11 PM tonight! – keep you honest plays Corktown Pub in Hamilton, ON
Anyone know this guy?
Well, if you’re in Canada you might. Ryan Malcolm is the original Canadian Idol winner from 7 or 8 years ago. After fulfilling his “idol” duties, Ryan decided to distance himself from that scene and formed his current band, Low Level Flight. Fresh off a tour of Europe, keep you honest will be the official opening act (we’re on at 11 PM) for their first show back on Canadian soil – part of Hamilton’s Spring Y108 Rocks Spring Music Festival.
We definitely need your help to impress the promoters and execs sure to be there. A great set is part of the battle, but having a good group of supportive friends and fans come out is definitely the rest! Hope you can make it out!
Date: Friday, May 13th
Time: 8:00 PM Doors / 11:00 PM we play
Cover: $10
Place: Corktown Pub, Hamilton ON

keep you honest – Year 2011 – so far
Just wanted to catch everyone up on the news so far for 2011. Some pretty exciting things happening, so read on:
FREE keep you honest mini-album!
We really appreciate the support all of you have given who have bought the album. Believe us, it goes right back into keep you honest and helping us get to the next level. However, we don’t want $$$ getting in the way of you hearing our tunes either. So, we’ve taken 5 of our coolest tracks and made them available as a free download. Make sure to get yours at http://keepyouhonest.com/music
keep you honest collaborates with Mississauga Hip-Hop artist, “Pyes”
Mississauga Hip-Hop artist, Pyes has asked keep you honest to work with him on a new single being released soon. Pyes has been making a name for himself in the GTA and beyond over the last few years and has released some great stuff. Check out his latest release here: http://www.datpiff.com/Piece_Of_Da_Pie_Records_Pyes_Rookie_Of_The_Year.m140008.html
Recording is underway at Metalworks studio where we’ve been doing some rhythm and solo guitar work. Pyes has asked the entire band to take part in a music video for the new single as well. We can’t say too much more than that until the song is released, but we’ll keep you posted as much as we can.
David Lee joins keep you honest as bass guitarist
The making of keep you honest has had two different chapters. The first was the actual self-recorded and produced debut album. The second chapter has been the transition of that recording project into a live band. Our original bass player, Johnny Dawson (who recorded on the album) stayed on for that transition to a live band even though he was unsure how long he could commit. With things really taking off for keep you honest, and the increased time commitment, the time to step down came sooner than anticipated for Johnny. He really was an integral part of the making of keep you honest, and we wish him the best.
So, with that being said, we do want to welcome David Lee into the band. David is a really cool guy who brings an exciting and aggressive style on the bass. David is not too shabby on the vocal side of things either, and will be doing some background work to help fill out our live show. We’ve been really stoked to have David join the band and were really pleased with the way things went at our first show together at the Opera House this past January . . .
. . . which brings me to the last part of this post . . .
Thanks for everyone who came out and supported us at the LME Battle of the Bands Final at the Opera House on Jan. 15/11!! It wasn’t our night to win, but overall, we were pleased with our show. We felt we were really solid musically, but due to sickness and Christmas vacations, we were only able to practice 3 times in the month before the show. This is what proved to be our downfall as we had virtually no time to work on our stage-show and other important facets. With the lineup of solid bands that night, it made it hard to stand out without bringing our “A” game.
However, the organizer of the show thought we deserved better and has invited us back to play in another event this year. We will be aiming to participate again towards the fall of this year, and will have our sights and expectations set on nothing other than first place.
Here’s hoping for a great year! Hope you enjoyed the read.

keep you honest takes 3RD Place (of 16) in LME Competition!!
Thanks to everyone who came out and cheered loudly and rowdily last night for us! It definitely helped our marks with the judges!
We took 3rd place (out of 16 bands) last night which means we move on to the main event at the Opera House in January!
We are totally stoked with the result! As much as we’ve prepared the last couple months, this was our first show together, and that is something that is very different than just practicing together. We beat out some great bands last night that have been together for years. Thanks for helping us do that, and we hope you all can make it out to the Opera House in January (the show has not been announced yet, but will happen in late January)!!

keep you honest Newsletter – Oct. 5th/2010
Hey there!
Luke from keep you honest here. Lots of news today, so let’s get to it.
1) Show Alert: http://www.landmarkevents.net/
Yeah! We know a lot of you have been waiting to come out and see us play, and we are excited to say that keep you honest has been selected to play in the Landmark Events BOTB 2010 Competition! Dates are being finalized, but it will take place at the Mod Club (downtown Toronto) in late November. If we do well, we will then be playing another show at the Opera House!
As I said, this is a judged competition, and a lot of the judging is based on “audience reaction”, so we definitely want to pack the place with all of you! As soon as the dates are announced, we will make sure you get the complete lowdown on all of it.
2) New Band Members: If you’ve been wondering why we’ve been relatively quiet the last couple of months, it’s mostly been due to finalizing the band lineup. Adrian DeGroot – who did a stellar job playing the drums on our album – decided he couldn’t make the transition to a live band. Adrian just got married to his beautiful wife, Liliana and is working away at a career right now, so we wish Adrian the best and am glad he got to play a part in keep you honest.
So, with Adrian leaving, we did a few auditions and brought on a fella’ named Damian Hercules to take over on the drums. Also, we decided to bring on another guitarist, and am glad to announce Caleb Arulumpalam has taken on that role. We’ll be formally introducing Damian and Caleb a little better in the future, but for now, we’re just excited to have them on board!
3) Facebook Page: If you aren’t on our Facebook page, this is where you need to be to get all the latest updates, show alerts, etc. So, make sure to come by and give us a “like”!
4) Lose Control Zombie Video:
Thanks for all your support in spreading the video around and telling your friends, etc. The video is now at 30,000 views and climbing quickly! The video is a major promotional tool for us and we’ve been happy that we’ve been able to have it featured and reviewed on different websites and podcasts around the web. Here’s a couple sites where it’s been picked up lately:
http://www.shootforthehead.com/2010/09/zombie-music-video-lose-control/
http://www.zombiehub.com/lose-control-zombie-music-video.html
Alright, that’s it. We’ll be back asap with the finalized show dates, and some formal introductions for Damian and Caleb. Make sure to drop us a line sometime!

August 14th, 2010
Yeah, hey everyone. Luke from keep you honest here. I don’t have a whole lot to say today, but thought I should say something, because it’s been a bit. Anyway, things have gone great with the release of the album 3 weeks ago. Lots of good response from everyone, and our “Lose Control – Zombie Music Film” just topped 10,000 views, so that’s cool! Also, the video was reviewed on the Midnight Corey 11 Podcast. Check out what he has to say right around 27 mins.
We’ll hopefully be back to you within a couple weeks with the announcement of our CD Release party. We’re just working all the details out.
Drop us a line if you have some time!
